I know what you're here for, I bragged about our weekend project with the high hopes that it would be close to finished by now. Well, you know how those renovation projects go and we're now going on day four without a shower.
Friday night, Kevin tore out absolutely all of the drywall in the bathroom. The paint had peeled so badly, it wasn't even worth trying to save. After he did that, we were left with literally nothing but studs.
And yes, that is a window where our shower used to be. The previous owners converted the covered porch into a bathroom but decided it'd be too much trouble to take the windows out, so here we are, left with how to cover this giant window and still fit our shower surround over it. That's a problem for Kevin to solve. I'm merely the picture-taker of this whole project. Well, I did pick out the new vanity and toilet. That means I contributed right?
So, as of today, the bathroom looks slightly better than the picture above but still not finished and still without a working shower. My poor sister will have me showering at her house for the rest of the week if this project doesn't get a move on.
Fingers crossed Kevin and his pal Tim get the drywall up tonight and my shower installed. Properly installed, might I add. Neither of them are plumbers. Or carpenters. Or electricians.
Pray for me?

Such a big project!!!!! We are currently painting the exterior of our house. (Correction, FIL is painting!) We are headed home after work today to start helping with the 2nd half of the house. I'm excited, but kind of dreading such a big, tedious project. Good luck with your bathroom reno, hoaaa!<3

(Sorry for free usage of ad space, hoaaa!) :p
i'm so impressed you and kevin are taking this on. i think you should leave the window in the shower and be "that couple" on the block.
i SO remember these days - but i gutted the house pretty much by myself - then i hired out for plumbing/electrical/building -- but i'm a girl who can do boy things - power tools are nothing for me - i did some of my own carpentry work in my house on my own - TRY it - u'll feel empowered!

Yikes! That stinks about the window and not having a shower! But it definitely counts picking out the fun stuff ;)
Wow I'm so behind on your blog. Your bathroom is going to look great when it's done! I can't wait to see it! You look great too! Hope your starting to feel better. That nausea just plain sucks!
Keeping my fingers crossed for shower progress soon!!
Fingers crossed! Can't wait to see the finished product!
Yikes! My fingers are crossed hard! I bet it'll look awesome when it's done.

Oh goodness, if that was my bathroom I think I would have had a panic attack seeing it like that! What a big project. I hope they get it finished soon with little hassle!
Wow - that looks like a big project! Fingers crossed that you get it done soon! :)
It's going to look soooo good when you get it completed. I can't wait to see the finished room! Take care!
OK, I'm weird - I had a window in the shower of my last apt & I kinda miss it. It was super-frosted & totally not see-through at all of course. If you keep the top pane open (closer to the ceiling) your bathroom will never get all gross shower-steamy. Yay for DIY! Can't wait to see more! :)
On the bright side at least when its done it will be super fabulous!
Yipes! At least you have a back up shower plan ;) I hope you guys can get it back in working order soon - I can't wait to see what it looks like in the end!
Goodness, sending good thoughts!
Oh good luck! I'm thinking about doing a DIY remodel of our bathroom too. I can't wait to see how yours turns out. You might have to convince your husband to write a post on it so we know what he did. Can't wait to see it!
Good Luck! We're starting a bathroom remodel in January! It's in desperate need for an overhaul!!!
